Professional Features

This undergraduate program in maritime transportation complies with international and national seafarer competency standards. It cultivates senior deck officers with broad perspectives, a solid foundation, and mastery of modern nautical theory and practical skills.Graduates are prepared for careers as navigation officers in shipping companies, maritime administrations, classification societies, and pilot stations, as well as for teaching and research roles in maritime institutions.

Training Objectives:

This program cultivates senior navigation officers for modern shipboard operations and management. Graduates will master maritime theory and practice, demonstrate strong social responsibility, and possess an innovative, entrepreneurial spirit with global vision, fully meeting international and national seafarer competency standards.

Training Objective 1:

Graduates will possess foundational knowledge in both humanities and physical education, along with professional ethics and a sense of social responsibility.

Training Objective 2:

Graduates will command a solid foundation in engineering principles and natural sciences, supported by a broad knowledge of the maritime industry. They will be familiar with maritime environmental protection, relevant regulations, shipping management, and operations. This knowledge enables them to comprehensively apply nautical technology to solve practical problems in navigation safety and waterway management.

Training Objective 3:

Graduates will demonstrate effective teamwork, communication, organization, and leadership skills. They will be proficient in using Maritime English and modern digital tools for communication in global shipping services. Capable of functioning effectively as an individual, a team member, and a leader, they will organize and execute specific projects and tasks in ship navigation, management, emergency response, and operational maintenance.

Training Objective 4:

Graduates will develop foundational research skills, self-directed learning abilities, and a commitment to sustainable and innovative practices. Upon passing the maritime authority’s examinations and completing the required seagoing service, they will be qualified to obtain an a Deck Officer Certificate of Competency.

Basic Skills & Certificates of Competency:

Upon completing the required courses, students must obtain a suite of mandatory proficiency certificates from the maritime authority, including Basic Safety, Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats, Advanced Firefighting, Proficiency in Medical First Aid, Security Awareness, and Designated Security Duties.

Furthermore, students who successfully complete the program must register for the Unlimited Third Officer Certificate of Competency examination.

Graduates who obtain this license will possess a significant competitive advantage for employment within the maritime industry.
